On the 7th of March, students studying Spanish in years 9 and 10 spent a week in Murcia on the first leg of the Spanish exchange with our partner school, the Instituto Mariano Baquero.
They had a full programme of activities organised for the week in Spain. During the week, they attended lessons and discovered the city of Murcia, including a visit to the city’s historic cathedral and town hall, as well as the planetarium. The students also visited the ancient Roman Theatre in nearby Cartagena, before enjoying a boat trip around the harbour. They also spent a day at the beach at Mar Menor to soak up the sun!
The students all spoke Spanish throughout the visit and came back full of enthusiasm and a lot more confident. Some of the things our students said were:
“I’m definitely going back to see my exchange partner in the summer!”
“My favourite day was the boat trip and beach visit I had such a great time”
“The Spanish family were so kind to me and made me feel really at home”
The second leg of the exchange is in June and we are busy making sure we can provide our hosts with a similar experience.
Until then, ¡hasta luego!
