The Thomas Hardye School

ROUNDERS SUCCESS FOR THS

Rounders

On Thursday 18th May, Miss Bright hosted the annual Thomas Hardye Invitational Rounders Tournament, something that started 3 years ago and seems to get bigger every year and this year was no exception. There were two separate competitions; one for Year 9’s and one for Year 10’s and sixteen teams entered across both year groups.

The tournament consisted of four pools with the top two teams progressing through to the semi-final and finals playoff. In both year groups our THS girls progressed through to the semi-finals, the U14 faced All Saints, who just pipped them to the post leaving our girls to play in the 3rd/4th playoff against Colfox and this result ended in a draw, meaning THS finished in joint 3rd. A very pleasing result for a team who have only been playing together for 3 weeks.

However it was a different story for the U15s who defeated Colfox to reach the final. In the final they faced Purbeck, but these girls were no match for our THS girls who had a trophy to retain. THS batted first and scored a remarkable 11 rounders off 20 balls. They set the bar very high and this was no match for Purbeck who only managed to score 6 rounders. THS U15 girls remained champions and rightfully so, they played with true class.

A thoroughly enjoyable tournament, which was enjoyed by all. Thank you to all the staff, helpers and players for making this tournament a great success.
