News from the Thomas Hardye Equestrian Team



We kicked off the 2018 season with NSEA Team and Individual County Qualifiers for Show Jumping at Moreton Equestrian Centre on Sunday, 28 January 2018. A large number of entries saw a very competitive competition and a very high standard of riding. Our riders, Poppy Reeve, Connor Pullin, Deborah Blair, Izzy Whitty, Jasmin Edwardson, Molly Haywood, Olivia Mallows, Rosie Russell, Molly Russell, Zoe Kibbey, Bea Parsons, Georgia Edwards, Ava Wickem and Maddy Taylor competed in 5 classes from 70cm to 1.10cm. Poppy Reeve jumped a lovely double clear in the 70cm. Four teams competed in the 80cm with a 5th placing for Connor, Bea and Poppy. Four Teams also competed in the 90cm and Rosie, Molly, Olivia and Maddy gaining a 4th place in the team competition and Rosie also picked up an individual 4th place.

The 1m class saw Izzy, Maddy, Molly and Rosie put in some great rounds to finish 5th and Olivia, Rosie, Connor and Deborah went one better to finish 4th. Connor was also 4th individually. Rosie competed as an Individual in the 1.10 gaining 6th place. Some excellent results for our first outing of the year.


Our second event of the year saw six teams competing at Pontispool for the Eventers Challenge. This event is a qualifier with the championships being held at the prestigious home of Show Jumping, The All England Jumping Course, Hickstead in West Sussex on the 26th & 27th May 2018.
Izzy Whitty, Molly Hayward, Molly Russell and Connor Pullin, Poppy Reave, and Bea Parsons competed in the 85cm class all putting in some great performances with an excellent 2nd place for Izzy Whitty, Molly Hayward and Molly Russell, and therefore qualifying for Hickstead.
Connor Pullin, Izzy Whitty, Rosie & Molly Russell, Deborah Blair, Molly Hayward and Bea Parsons came forward to compete in the 95cm class putting in some excellent rounds over a big and challenging course with another 2nd place and qualifier for Conner, Izzy, Rosie and Molly. A great achievement.
Rosie, Izzy and Molly also competed in the 1.05cm class putting in some excellent rounds and gaining valuable experience.

All in all an excellent day in some challenging conditions with two teams qualifying and looking forward to representing their school at Hickstead.
