DASP are going to Parliament!

Send my friend to school

On Tuesday 20th March, student voice members Sophie, Sarah, and Niall attended a DASP Student Voice conference at St Osmunds Middle School with other students from across DASP.

The focus of the event was the ‘Send My Friend to School’ campaign. This campaign brings together thousands of young people across the UK to speak up for the right to education, and remind world leaders of their commitment to ensuring ever child can access a quality education.  DASP gets involved in this campaign every year.

Last year, a march was held in Dorchester, followed by student speeches to Oliver Lewin MP. This year DASP is going even further!

This year’s campaign focus is safety in schools. In June, two students from each DASP school will travel to the Houses of Parliament to share the campaign with decision makers. DASP has booked Westminster hall as a venue for students to ask Oliver Letwin questions on any global issue of their choice. The one condition, being that students must come up with a response to what they would do about these issues if they were in Oliver Letwin’s position!

Before this event schools will make a short film to send their messages to Oliver Lewin.

This is a very exciting opportunity for DASP students to engage with global issues and influence decision makers to take action on education.
