Students on track to be future Engineers

Arkwright candidates

Three year 11 students have made it through to the interview stage of the prestigious Arkwright Scholarship Scheme. Elysia Jackson, Ben Richardson and Elliot Twigg attended interviews at Southamption University during the Easter break. To be selected for interview they each submitted a detailed 8 page application form and sat a 2 hour exam. Their interviews lasted 20 minutes and for the rest of the day they participated in a group engineering challenge. They also had a tour of the engineering faculties at Southampton University.

The Arkwright Engineering Scholarship programme identify, inspire and nurture future leaders in Engineering, Computing and technical Design. This by awarding Arkwright Engineering Scholarships, through a rigorous selection process, to high-calibre students who apply when in year 11 (England and Wales), S4 (Scotland) and year 12 (Northern Ireland). Arkwright Engineering Scholarships support students through their A Levels to pursue Engineering, Computing or Technical Design at university or through a higher-level apprenticeship and to pursue careers in the field.

Every Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is sponsored by an industrial company, university, charitable trust, trade association, professional institution, armed service, worshipful company, industry regulator or personal donor.

We wish Elysia, Ben and Elliot luck; successful candidates are notified in June and the awards are presented in London in October.

If you are currently in Year 10 and considering a career in engineering look out for more on applying for an Arkwright Scholarship next school year.

Update!

Ben, Alysia and Elliot have been awarded Arkwright Scholarships!! – after a rigorous selection procedure.
