The Thomas Hardye School

Sports Festival a big success again.

Sports

The PE department hosted their annual two week Sports Festival from Monday 1st July through to Friday 12th July. It was a fantastic two weeks with a host of sports on offer to all students in the school. The PE department put on clubs every lunchtime and afterschool. Every day we logged how many students were at the events and awarded college sports points for their participation.

The sports on offer were Badminton and Basketball during every lunchtime, and then afterschool we offered Athletics, Basketball, Climbing, Danish Long Ball, Football, Gaelic Football, Rounders, Tennis and Walking for Well-being. It was very well supported by our students and we feel that it is a good way to celebrate sport at the school. Also within this time we hosted two Australian cricket fixtures with Newington School from Sydney- winning one and losing one. Bronze Duke of Edinburgh saw 60 students take part in their final expedition. Golfers had a free golf lesson at Came Down Golf Club.

Our THS Sports Festival is about providing a different array of sports for all students to come along and enjoy with their peers, whilst experiencing the many benefits that sport has to offer. The total number of students across the two weeks was over 1100. This is an amazing achievement from our students. The PE Department would like to thank all students who came along and got involved in our THS Sports Festival. We hope to continue to build on this success during next year’s festival.
