A Level Classical Civilisation students have visiting Lecturer.

Prof Finglass

On Friday 18th October, year 12 and 13 Classical Civilisation students were delighted to welcome Patrick Finglass from the University of Bristol.
Delivering a lecture on ‘the Barbarian in Greek Tragedy’, Professor Finglass shared his expertise with students and responded to thoughtful questions on Aeschylus’ ‘Persians’ and Euripides’ ‘Medea’.

As part of the A Level Classical Civilisation course, students are expected to engage with ‘modern scholarship’ so this was a fantastic opportunity which was made possible due to our close links with the Bristol Classics Hub.

This lecture builds on recent enrichment opportunities provided to A Level Classical Civilisation students. Earlier in October, year 12 students were led on a tour of Roman Dorchester by archaeologist Steve Wallis, which included a visit to Dorchester’s Roman Town House.
Any year 10 or 11 students interested in finding out more about studying Classical Civilisation at A Level should speak to Mr Ayre.
